Welcome to Take the Edge Off, a series that breaks down the beauty and self-care routines of influencers, CEOs, experts, and celebrities. Find out how they unwind and decompress, while taking a closer look at the holy-grail essentials they’re currently raving about.

If you’re a fan of rapper and singer Saweetie, there’s one word that likely comes to mind: icy—and not in a cold-shoulder kind of way. The star’s radiant energy and effortless style are apparent not only through the lens of her lyrics, but through her persona as a whole, as well—just one of the reasons she’s been named the newest ambassador for Athena Club.

“I think they have a really great brand,” she tells Bazaar of the beauty and wellness company. “The shoot was amazing—I’ve been told I’m known for my aesthetics, and I feel like they understood what world to put me in, so it was just a really great day on set.”

Saweetie’s Athena Club favorites include the razor set and shaving cream, as well as the brand’s Creamy Body Wash—specifically in the grapefruit scent. “It doesn’t feel heavy [on your skin once you rinse it off],” she explains. “It gives you that fresh feeling.”

Along with these daily body care essentials, we caught up with the artist to learn more about the core staples that help her feel her best. From 111Skin’s brightening under-eye patches, to lighting one of Voluspa’s rose-scented candles to keep her centered, read on for more on how Saweetie takes the edge off.

What are you reading these days?

I’m actually rereading a lot of books. I’m that person that, if I really like something, I’ll just keep going back to it. So, I just started rereading The Alchemist. It’s my fourth time, and every time I do, I catch new things. I’ve read the book at every stage in my life, and I feel like this is a new chapter, so I decided to reread it.

I also just reread The Coldest Winter Ever—I hope they make that a movie one day; I would love to play Winter, so shout-out to Sister Souljah. And then I’m also reading the Bible. I was raised in the church, so just opening my Bible before I step out into the world has really helped me. I feel like the page I flip to is definitely the verse that’s needed for the day.

What are some of your go-to bath and shower products?

Definitely Athena Club! And I’m not just saying this because I have the brand partnership. Their shaver comes with this little magnetic hook that you can pop your razor on, and it’s the smallest thing, but it’s really the details that matter. I hate when my shaver is just laying around on the tile of the shower, so I like that I’m able to just pop it up, because I’m a germaphobe, bruh.

Some more beauty products I’m loving are the Bioré pore cleansing strips. I’m an oily girl, so after a week of heavy makeup I have to use them, because there’s just so much buildup. And then I love me some facial scrub from Dr. Barbara Sturm—it’s a little on the pricey side, but it’s worth it. But my super, super go-to is Ole Henriksen’s C-Rush Brightening Gel Crème. It really gives me that glow to start my day.

What beauty or self-care products do you use on a regular basis to help combat Zoom fatigue?

Oh definitely water and kombucha, I love me some kombucha. And maybe some candy, too. Girl—I love to be healthy, but let’s be real, we need that little spice in our lives. So, I love sour candy, and I love those Mexican lollipops that you get from food trucks—I’m actually eating one right now.

Do you have a favorite hand sanitizer, soap, or cream right now?

I love any hand sanitizer that kills 99 percent of germs. I’m not picky—if it smells good, that’s the cherry on top. But don’t tell me it only kills 70 percent. What about the other 30 percent?

Do you ever light a candle or stick of incense to decompress? If so, what are some of your favorites?

To decompress, I really like a eucalyptus scent—I don’t have a particular brand for that. But when it comes to candles, I really love Voluspa’s Rose Petal Ice Cream. That’s what my house smells like. And if I leave my house, even if I don’t have perfume on, you can smell it on me.

What’s the last beauty product you put on today?

Some eye patches from 111Skin—they really brighten up my under-eyes, like magic.

Are you into bold makeup, no makeup, or no-makeup makeup right now, and why?

I would say I’m into hella makeup that looks natural, or hella makeup that looks like hella makeup—it just depends on my mood. I’m the type of girl that’s like, if you’re going to put makeup on me, put makeup on me—beat my face. And something that I do on a no-makeup day, besides wearing lip gloss and big hoops, is wear the 111Skin patches until I pull up to my location, then pull them off—they just really give me that glow.

What’s the last fitness class you streamed or attended in person?

I meditate every morning—it’s really important to ground yourself. Meditation is different for everyone: You can pray, just be still, you can be in a pose—it just depends on who you are. But when it comes to a fitness class, probably something on the Peloton. I really enjoy their scenic runs—I normally run in Iceland or Puerto Rico.

What’s one piece of self-care advice you’d give to our readers?

I learned about a month ago that our body toxins leave through our feet as a gateway to cleanse old energy in our bodies. So, it’s good to ground yourself through swimming, walking barefoot on dirt and grass or sand. And also, a trick I do when I’m feeling high stress or anxiety is going to bed with socks on and detox tea bags at the bottom of my feet. When I wake up, my body feels lighter.
