These are the fall hair, makeup, and nail moments we loved backstage.

Michael Kors

Easy, effortless, undone—there's no other way to describe the beauty seen at Michael Kors this season. Hair, keyed by Orlando Pita, was slicked back at the roots with mousse and tucked behind the ears. The makeup was all about glowing skin, touches of eyeliner, and darkened brows.

2

Brandon Maxwell

An eye look as strong and unapologetic as the women who wore it on the runway at Brandon Maxwell. "We are embracing the difference in the looks, it's the same makeup with different colors," says makeup artist Tom Pecheux, who painted the strong black-and-metallic eyeshadow on each model. "I love the fact that it's the same, but it's not the same color. Like human beings—we are the same, but we are all different colors."

Oscar De La Renta

When hairstylist Orlando Pita caught a glimpse of the new Oscar De La Renta collection, he was most inspired by its youthful energy. "It's really Oscar for a younger girl," he says. "I thought, you know, what would be the one hairdo a young girl could wear that she's still a bit rebellious when her mother buys her an expensive piece of clothing like this? It's a ponytail. The mother would freak out like, 'you can't wear a ponytail with that!' So if the mother doesn't like it—it's good," says Pita.

Zadig & Voltaire

Splashes of red, white, and yellow eyeshadow lent a graphic vibe to the beauty look that could also be found throughout the Zadig & Voltaire fall collection.

Proenza Schouler

A little white eyeliner goes a long way. After carefully prepping the skin, makeup artist Diane Kendal kept the girls "really fresh," by simply covering blemishes, brushing brows, and swiping on lip balm. But on four or five models, she scribbled a white liner pencil on the inner and outer corners of the eye and blended the work with a clean brush until "it's quite diffused," she said. A touch of white pencil amplified the glowing look.

3.1 Phillip Lim

Finger, Lip, Cheek, Brown, Hairstyle, Skin, Forehead, Eyebrow, Eyelash, Nail,

The prettiest nail color for fall 2017—seen here at 3.1 Phillip Lim—is actually one of manicurist Jin Soon's original shades. The smoky teal color is called Charade, and it lent a pop of color to the otherwise stripped-down beauty look.

9

Phillip Plein

Lip, Cheek, Finger, Brown, Hairstyle, Skin, Eyebrow, Eyelash, Style, Beauty,

Intense smoky eyes, cherry-red lips, and nearly black nails tied together with hoops and chains set the tone at Phillip Plein.

10

Monse

Finger, Lip, Cheek, Brown, Skin, Hairstyle, Eye, Forehead, Eyebrow, Eyelash,

An unfussy makeup look for a girl too cool to care—that was the vibe backstage at Monse's highly anticipated fall 2017 show. Makeup artist Gucci Westman used a shimmery brown cream shadow—plus a ton of lip gloss—to create this soft eye look. Mascara was applied just at the roots, and then a wine-colored lipstick was dabbed on just the center of models' lips to give the effect that it was from the night before. As for all that glow? Westman swears she didn't use highlighter, but it was residual sheen from prepping the skin with SK-II's GenOptics Aura Essence

Libertine

Lip, Hairstyle, Eyebrow, Collar, Eyelash, Style, Iris, Electric blue, Beauty, Fashion,

This bold, glossy liner look at Libertine was the result of mixing Too Cool For School Dinoplatz Highline Eyeliner in Charcoal with cream and lip gloss. "We landed on a very graphic look, an unapologetic black cat eye with a glossy lid to give a luxe yet disheveled texture – it wears very differently on every girl in an organic way," said makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes. "When they blink there will be different shapes on their eye lids. It also has a hint of red, which suits a lot of eye colors."

Prabal Gurung

Strong women—may we know them, may we wear eyeliner like them. The theme of Prabal Gurung's fall show was centered around female power, and that translated into a slicked-back ponytail and this graphic floating liner look. The color palette varied between the models—some had their eyes painted in green, others in red or blue—but the end result looked absolutely striking as the women marched down the runway.

Only a handful of models had this slate gray cat-eye traced across their lids by makeup artist Pat McGrath at the Victoria Beckham show. Being a makeup legend and all, McGrath and her team drew the shape with just their fingers (we prefer a brush). Look for this shadow color to debut in a new collection the designer is creating with Estée Lauder this fall.

Smudgy black eyeliner never goes out of style, as the backstage beauty look from Nicole Miller proves. But we love how the nails even got a piece of the grungy action. Backstage, manicurist Holly Falcone used Zoya polish in Willa and Purity to create the black-and-white designs seen here.

20

Altuzarra

Lip, Cheek, Hairstyle, Eye, Skin, Chin, Forehead, Eyebrow, Eyelash, Style,
LAUNCHMETRICS SPOTLIGHT

It was all about a sweet, Victorian innocence backstage at Altuzarra. Hairstylist Odile Gilbert pulled the hair back into a low ponytail, which served as the perfect canvas for the custom headbands. Meanwhile, makeup artist Tom Pecheux threw out a reference from Girl with a Pearl Earring—and brought that to life through a palette of luminous pale pink shades. A deep burgundy nail added a little edge to the look and grounded it firmly in 2017.
