When it comes to my relationship with gel nail polish, it’s complicated. On one hand, the durability and virtually chip-free longevity of gel formulas regularly keep me coming back for new manicures. On the other, my nails often feel weaker and more brittle once it’s removed. Forever Wear is a two-step gel-like polish system created with nail integrity in mind. The polish and its protective top coat are both nontoxic (and 25-free, if you track that sort of thing). Unlike gel polish I’ve used in the past, Forever Wear uses a blend of bioceramics and plant extracts to help fortify nails as you wear it. It is even sunlight-reactive to enhance its shine, an added bonus. It cures without the need for an LED lamp.
As a manicure obsessive, I’ve tested several long-wearing polishes over the years and can attest to this one’s gentle yet effective staying power. Ahead of its release, I had the opportunity to try one of the collection’s 21 shades before a business trip to the Atacama Desert in Chile, and I quickly fell in love. My polish not only didn’t chip at all during my five-day stay, which included several hiking excursions and even a dip in one of the country’s salt lagoons, but once I returned home, I kept it on for a week longer, and my manicure still looked flawless.
Needless to say, I am extremely impressed by Chillhouse’s new formula. The collection’s top coat is aptly named Magic Finish, and it’s easy to see why. Once applied over Forever Wear Chill Polish, the formula leaves a lasting enchantment over my manicure that guards against peels, chips, and scratches without LED light—and without totally wrecking my nails in the process.
