One of the most endearing parts of Stranger Things 2 was Steve Harrington's (Joe Keery) and Dustin Henderson's (Gaten Matarazzo) unexpected friendship. The two bonded over girl issues, demogorgon hunting, and, most importantly, hair maintenance. (Now their regimens include Fabergé Organics shampoo and conditioner paired with and four pumps of Farrah Fawcett spray.) And as if they couldn't get any cuter, Steve gave Dustin—who sported a new slicked back hairstyle—a ride to the Snow Ball dance.
Tonight, for the SAG Awards, Matarazzo and Keery referenced their onscreen bond again when they showed up on the red carpet in nearly identical hairdos. Joe wore his signature style, but Gaten ditched his usual curls for a voluminous coiff, just like his costar. It looks like he takes Steve's hair advice in real life, too. (Plus, the look was a great match for his Kenneth Cole ensemble.)
The actors didn't walk the red carpet together, but we're hoping we get a #twinning Instagram later in the night.
Stranger Things fans noticed the similarities instantly.
Gaten's hair switch-up was no easy transformation. Here's what his hair used to look like:
It may be a while until we see Dustin and Steve team up onscreen again. According to David Harbour (AKA Chief Hopper), there's a chance that Stranger Things' third season won't arrive until 2019. We'll be over here replaying the duo's best moments from Season 2 on repeat.
Perhaps the best part of the pair's bromance, however, is that no one—including Stranger Things' show runners, the Duffer Brothers—saw it coming.
"That’s my favorite thing this year. Or my favorite surprise, because it was never planned," Matt Duffer told Vulture of Dustin and Steve's friendship. "When we went and pitched the season to Netflix, that was never part of it. It’s just something you discover along the way."
