Our red carpet daydreams will have to wait, as Travis Kelce just revealed he will not be accompanying girlfriend Taylor Swift to this year’s Grammys.
The pop star is nominated in six categories at the award show—including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year—and is sure to wow in a Reputation-coded dress. And while it would have been fabulous to see the couple make their red carpet debut, we will say Kelce has a pretty good reason for skipping the ceremony.
“I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every single award that she’s nominated for,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show yesterday. “Unfortunately, I gotta get ready for this big ol’ Super Bowl that we got in a week.”
Oh, just that.
Kelce explained that this Saturday, the day before the Grammy Awards, is a practice day, and Sunday, the day of the ceremony, is a travel day.
Still, Swifties know “TNT” (Kelce’s couple nickname for himself and Swift) will likely reunite at Super Bowl LVIII on February 11, when the Chiefs will go up against the San Francisco 49ers.
Though the “Karma” singer has a show in Tokyo the night before the big game, herfans have already done the math, and it turns out she can make it to Las Vegas to cheer on her man if she so desires.
