Sofía Vergara is a vision at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards.
The Modern Family alum walked the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles tonight in a striking red gown. It was a strapless floor-length custom Dolce and Gabbana dress with a plunging neckline and ruched, ribbed details arranged in symmetrical patterns all over.
Vergara complemented the head-turning rouge piece with diamond chandelier earrings and some rings. Her caramel brown hair was styled in silky waves, and she wore a sparkly bronze shadow.
Tonight is a big night for the actor, who nabbed her first Emmy nomination as a leading actress for her role as Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco role on Netflix’s Griselda. She is the first Colombian-born actress and second Latina actress ever nominated in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
Griselda is based on real-life drug kingpin Griselda Blanco, who created one of the most brutal drug cartels in the world, in Miami in the 1970s.
“There were many similarities with her that I felt that I connected,” Vergara said of relating to her character in a recent interview with CBS. “I lived in Colombia during the 1970s, ’80s, and ’90s, when the narco traffic was crazy. My brother died in that era. He was killed because he was part of that business. So, I kind of like had a lot of things, you know, I don’t want to say I had things in common, but I have to.”
