After the unexpected resurgence and swag-ification of the L.L.Bean tote bags in 2022, it seems every city girl has a go-to canvas tote monogrammed with their initials or a cheeky phrase. The bags are so visually basic that fashion girls wear them almost ironically, but the truth is, the totes are also spacious, comfortable to carry, and so practical for running errands. I tend to take mine shopping at Trader Joe’s, and well, if it’s good enough for Katie Holmes, it’s good enough for me.
The actor championed the return of the monogram canvas tote on Monday, when she stepped out in uptown Manhattan to enjoy the fresh fall day. For the slightly chilly weather, Holmes brought out her autumn outerwear from hiatus, choosing a puffy pale sage jacket with a fuchsia faux-fur collar, from Marfa Stance.
The Dawson’s Creek alum paired the outerwear with dark blue straight-leg jeans, Balenciaga’s Paris low-top sneakers in white, and finally, her trusty white canvas tote from Lands’ End. Hers had apple red straps, and her initials, “KH,” embroidered in red in the front. (An extra-large tote from the brand retails for only $54.95.)
Holmes accessorized with dainty gold jewelry, including some small hoop earrings and a necklace. She had her chocolate brown hair down straight and had on natural, rosy makeup. She was seen taking out a silver metallic thermos from her tote to keep warm with a hot drink.
