For Cynthia Erivo, the method dressing never ends.
In the months leading up to the release of her Broadway musical film adaptation Wicked, the actor—with the help of stylist Jason Bolden—fully embraced all things green and gothic as a nod to her character, Elphaba. And though the highly anticipated movie finally debuted on November 22, it seems Erivo isn’t done with her thematic streak.
On Friday night, the actor made an appearance at the Crosby Hotel in New York City, where she joined Jessica Chastain for a Q&A about Wicked. For the occasion, Erivo once again slipped into shades of green—although this time, she did away with dramatic gowns and glittering glam in favor of a slouchy, leather-centric look.
Blending her own personal style with that of Elphaba’s, the “Harriet” actor left quite the impression as she arrived at the event. Braving the snow, she stepped out in a sheer black fishnet top, pairing the lacy look with slim black suede pants and a thigh-high pair of black leather boots. Though each piece flaunted a different texture, they blended together rather harmoniously.
An oversized olive green leather jacket, zipped half-way closed, brought a bit of color to her striking ensemble. Meanwhile, for added warmth, Erivo layered a massive black leather trench coat over all her garments. As per usual, the actor sported an elaborate manicure, allowing her multicolored nails to poke out of the jacket’s baggy sleeves. Elsewhere, she accessorized with chunky gold rings, gold moon-shaped hoops, and a stack of diamond earrings, topping off her look with clear, rounded glasses.
