Anne Hathaway Proves the Power of a Statement Coat in Powder Blue Trench

The one good thing about winter’s brisk cold air still sneaking its way into the spring season is the fact that we don’t have to give up all of our outerwear quite yet.

There’s something powerful that lies in throwing on a coat you know will turn heads, only to reveal an even better outfit underneath. Anne Hathaway proved as much as she stepped out in New York City to celebrate Gigi Hadid’s 30th birthday party.

Joined by her husband, Adam Shulman, in a rare public date night, the Devil Wears Prada star draped herself in a blue leather trench coat that was not cerulean, but instead a sweet powder pastel shade.

Underneath the layer, which was worn open, was a short and sweet white mini lace dress with a plunging scoop neckline. ’Tis the season of short hemlines, after all. Her bare legs were further thrust into the spotlight with the addition of silver chrome strappy peep-toe high heels.

For the star-studded birthday party, Hathaway threw in all of her belongings into a silver clutch from Bvlgari that matched her shoes.

As for Shulman, the producer let his wife shine by opting to wear a simple navy sweater, dark jeans, and black dress shoes.

Just last week, Hathaway pulled another great coat from her closet for the Ralph Lauren fashion show. Sitting front row, she was photographed in a khaki trench paired with distressed, sparkly sequined khaki jeans and a simple white tank top.
