You’ve probably seen Pharrell Williams’s wife, Helen Lasichanh, looking incredibly stylish next to him on red carpets around the world. But Lasichanh likes her privacy, and when she’s not wearing killer straight-off0the-runway looks, she’s mostly out of the public eye.

Still, we did manage to find out a little bit about the “Happy” singer’s reclusive wife. Read on to find out more about Helen Lasichanh.

She attended St. Thomas University in Miami and played Volleyball.

Not much information is publicly available about Lasichanh’s early life, but the New York Post dug up that she went to St. Thomas University and was a volleyball star. According to the St. Thomas website she received All-American Honors (making Third-Team) in 2001. The Post even talked to her coach, who said she was “a quiet warrior. She was very intense, but she would not necessarily express it verbally.”

She also played hard-to-get with Pharrell.

Although the two have been happily together for almost two decades, it wasn’t always smooth going. Pharrell joked with Oprah in 2014 that although he thought she was amazing at first, she was more stand-offish. He said, “She didn’t answer half my text messages. She had a boyfriend and she wasn’t interested.” Thank goodness it all worked out.

She married Pharrell in October 2013.

The couple got married in Miami in 2013. According to Us Weekly, Busta Rhymes and Usher performed and one guest said it was the most fun wedding they’d ever gone to.

Pharrell wore a red plaid suit and Lasichanh wore a billowing long-sleeve blue tartan dress.

In 2018 Pharrell told People about his wife, “I love her because of everything that she is—good, bad and indifferent.”

She’s incredibly stylish.

Lasichanh has dipped her toes into all parts of the fashion world—as a model, designer, and stylist. Now, she most prominently shows off her eclectic style next to Pharrell on the red carpet. The pair love to coordinate looks, like when they wore all-leather Western fits to the 2021 Met Gala (the theme was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”).

She and Pharrell have four kids, including triplets.

Lasichanh and Williams welcomed their first child, Rocket, in 2008.

Then, in January 2017, the pair welcomed triplets. Speaking of how private the couple is, they still haven’t revealed their triplets names. It’s honestly very impressive. Although the whole family did show up to support Pharrell at a Louis Vuitton fashion show where he made his debut as creative director of menswear.

On The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Pharrell talked about raising the triplets, miming having to change three diapers at once, and praised his wife’s strength. He told the show host: “I have to say, my wife carrying those babies, and all of them are fine and healthy, man, I cannot say enough about women and all kinds of burdens that they carry and the gifts that they carry.”

There's a Lego Helen Lasichanh.

Piece by Piece, the lego movie about Pharrell, came out in 2024 and features a Lasichanh cameo. When The Hollywood Reporter asked Pharrell about including her in the movie he said, “I always play my wife records and see how she feels about certain things, just like I do with my other friends. I love her taste, too. I’ve always appreciated that.”

Being in the movie means there’s an actual lego figurine of Lasichanh from a movie tie-in collection. It’s a pretty cool badge of honor.
