A new trailer for The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story was released, and it features Penelope Cruz as Donatella Versace. As we've seen in behind-the-scenes photos, the Oscar winner has an uncanny likeness to the designer, especially when channeling her platinum blonde wig and signature bombshell style. In the clip, Cruz brings her portrayal of Versace to life as she kisses the steps of her late brother's Miami home.
As the title suggests, this second season of American Crime Story will revolve around the murder of the iconic fashion designer in 1997. Considering the show's delicate content, the actress was sensitive in portraying her character amidst a tragic real-life event.
"I’m sure there are going to be scenes that are hard for her to watch, because it’s a lot about the loss of her brother, which, of course, I have so much respect for," Cruz said of playing Donatella. "I did it with all my love."
