Westworld is almost back online. Season 2 of the blockbuster HBO series will premiere Sunday, April 22, at 9 PM EST.
A short teaser for the new season aired during tonight's Super Bowl, but HBO just released an extended version, and frankly, it's spectacular:
The trailer is set to Westworld's signature eerie piano, a cover of "Runaway" by Kanye West, with a chilling monologue/warning courtesy of Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood):
Look at this world.
This beautiful world.
We built this world together.
A world where dreams come true.
A world where you can be free.
But this world is a lie.
This world deserves to die.
Because this is your world.
We've lived by your rules long enough.
We can save this world.
We can burn it to the ground
And from the ashes, build a new world.
Our world.
Over Dolores's words, we get an in-depth look at the chaos sweeping Westworld in the wake of Robert Ford's assassination.
Host bulls are on the attack:
Humans are torturing the hosts, like Dolores' father (Louis Herthum):
Jeffrey Wright's Bernard is back—and animating faceless hosts?
There are quick glimpses of Teddy (James Marsden) and the Man in Black (Ed Harris):
As well as Clementine (Angela Sarafyan) watching the chaos:
And finally, Thandie Newton's Maeve in all her calmly vengeful glory:
There's also a brief, bloody glimpse at the carnage Dolores left at the board gala:
As well as the hosts seemingly experiencing snow for the first time:
So cryptic! So tantalizing! We're ready for it. Plus, check out everything you need to know about Westworld Season 2.
