HBO knows exactly what kind of viewership it's dealing with when it comes to Westworld—this is the fandom that predicted a Season 2 twist in the middle of production, after all.
In February, Westworld's marketing team hid binary code in the show's Super Bowl trailer, which one eagle-eyed Redditor unscrambled to discover an in-universe website: delosdestinations.com. The site advertises "Delos Destinations" and confirms the existence of six—yes, six—parks within the Delos experience.
Westworld is the first listed before the site starts glitching; it's known as Park 1, which means Maeve's daughter is somewhere within Westworld (we know from the Season 1 finale that she's in "Park 1, Sector 15, Zone 3").
A quick screenshot of the second listing confirms Samurai World is Park 2, with the logo matching the SW teased in the Westworld Season 1 finale.
According to EW, the real name of the park is "Shogun World," which refers to "one of a line of military governors ruling Japan until the revolution of 1867–68," according to Merriam-Webster. Footage shown at SXSW over the weekend depicted Maeve donning a kimono.
The videos for the four other parks, all unnamed, also glitch, with each stating "reservations closed to the public." Two will probably be Medieval World and Roman World, both of which appeared in the 1973 movie on which Westworld is based. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, creators of Westworld the TV show, teased late last year that we could potentially see them in Season 2. A sequel based on the 1976 film, titled Futureworld, could also inspire another park.
Redditor Askin1 also dug around the Delos Destinations site and managed to find blood-spattered pages from the Westworld employee guidebook, with messages such as "System is down, if you can see this, get help now" and "No one is in control" scrawled over a map of Westworld HQ and its quality assurance guidelines. There's even a fascinating outline for narrative creation. At first glance, these message seem to be coming from the Delos employees trapped in Westworld in the midst of the hosts' rebellion, but as we now know, nothing in Westworld is actually what it seems. You can find the links for those pages here.
Westworld Season 2 premieres Sunday, April 22 at 9 PM EST.
