As the countdown to the Academy Awards begins and the world speculates about which stars will take home their own Oscars, we’re making our own predictions—about the fashion. With the Spring/Summer 2025 couture shows serving up a spectacle of dramatic silhouettes, intricate embellishments, and red carpet-worthy showstoppers, the stage is set for a night of glamour. Will stars embrace Old Hollywood elegance or make a statement with bold, modern drama? Here, Harper’s Bazaar editors weigh in on which SS25 couture looks the biggest names might wear.

"There would be something quite magical about first-time Academy Award nominee Mikey Madison wearing Alessandro Michele’s first couture collection for Valentino. I would love to see her in this amazing violet dress with ornate embellishments—it would turn heads on the carpet!"—Nicole Fritton, executive fashion director

"Nicole Kidman is the red carpet’s foremost daring starlet. She never misses and chooses the looks that if I had a superstar lifestyle, I would love to wear. Though Nicole’s was (unjustly) left out of Oscar noms, if she does show up on Sunday, I’d love to see her in this nude Schiaparelli number. The pleating is divine and angular detailing on the hip will be incredible on her tall frame. Here’s hoping!"—Lynette Nylander, executive digital director

Isabella Rossellini in Giambattista Valli

"This is like a modern take on an Italian-lady-of-the-palazzo look. The rich embroidered tunic juxtaposed with the white papal skirt (plus a very modern pop of color in the form of fuchsia gloves) would be a regal nod to her nominated movie, Conclave, but also has a very Old Hollywood feel to it."Miguel Enamorado, accessories director

Timothee Chalamet in Jean Paul Gaultier

"Remember when Timmy wore a backless silk red halter top to the 2022 Venice Film Festival? Or his shirtless sparkly tux moment at the Oscars that same year? It could be wild to see him try a corset next, and no corset is more perfect than Ludivoc Saint Sernin's sheer shirt corset dress worn over trousers. Chalamet may be comfortably in his sleazy boy era, but how divine would it be to see him get a little of his sexy back for his big Oscars year?"—Brooke Bobb, fashion news director

"We can always count on Margaret Qualley's red carpet look to be elegant and timeless, and I would love to see her in this Chanel couture number, which is a bit sexy but also has a directional silhouette. Something about this drop-waist peplum ruffle feels very of-the-moment. It reminds me of all the peplums and dresses layered over pants that we've seen on the runways."—Jaclyn Alexandra Cohen, senior fashion & accessories editor

"Monica Barbaro’s performance as Joan Baez completely blew me away. She has my vote to win Best Supporting Actress, and what's more fitting for the occasion than being dressed as a golden Oscar statuette by way of Schiaparelli?"—Julie Tong, senior commerce content lead

Felicity Jones in Valentino

"I feel like Felicity and I are kindred spirits—though maybe that's just because I have bangs and love Star Wars—and I could see her choosing a sculptural black gown like this one from Valentino Spring 2025 couture. She's been wearing a lot of black lately, with many of her dresses on the press tour for The Brutalist coming in this kind of shape and having structured elements like collars, ties, or bibs. I'd love to see her bring in some retro beauty elements to this look with a graphic, retro cat-eye and shiny, blunt bangs."Jenna Rosenstein, beauty director

"Ayo would look incredible in the Schiaparelli gown that Kendall Jenner wore on the runway. She's always in something very cool, but I think a super fitted, dramatic gown with a slicked-back bun could be an incredible change of pace for her."—Faith Brown, senior social media manager

Ariana Grande in Miss Sohee

"After witnessing her totally pink press tour for Wicked, I would be shocked if Ariana Grande arrived to the 2025 Oscars in anything that wasn’t rosy or bubblegum-hued. There were lots of pink looks to choose from in the Spring 2025 Couture shows, from Look 41 at Zuhair Murad to Look 7 from Giambattista Valli. But while these ensembles are similar to outfits Grande has worn in the past few months, I would love to see her wear something that winks to the darker side of Glinda. This fit from the Miss Sohee show has a bit of an edge, and it would certainly act as a contrast to the good-girl persona that Glinda tries to craft around herself in the first film. It would be fun to see Grande play around with something a little more daring and give us a hint of what’s to come in Part 2."—Joel Calfee, editorial and social media assistant

Demi Moore in Giorgio Armani Privé

"Demi Moore’s nomination is significant as performances in the horror genre so rarely get recognition. She wore a gorgeous Armani Privé gown last month to the Golden Globes, where she received her first-ever win. I’d love for her to continue the tradition in this brown and eggplant dress adorned with crystals. The color is so rich and unique—I think it would feel unexpected on the red carpet."—Olivia Alchek, senior designer

Elle Fanning in Giambattista Valli

"If there's one thing Elle Fanning knows how to do, it's turn heads on the red carpet. Her recent looks have stayed true to the theme of old Hollywood glamour—one she knows well. For the Oscars, I'd love to see her in something dramatic yet still glamorous at the same time, like this volumonous look from Giambattista Valli. We know full well that Elle can pull off volume after she showed up to the Golden Globes earlier this year in a champaign ball gown from Balmain. Red is also a color that looks great on her, so why not go all out with this look?"—Kristina Ang, social video coordinator
