Jac Cameron could teach a master class in the art of layering. She founded her New York-based label AYR as a capsule of edited essentials that can be mixed together endless ways "all year round." Her Go-To Uniform: "I pretty much live in jeans and a great coat I can layer over them. For me it's all about being able to wear something a bunch of different ways. I like to find one or two special pieces each season that complement what I already have. Also, my job involves quite a bit of travel. So cozy pieces I can throw in my suitcase are key."

Her Denim Philosophy: "I'm a denim junkie and collector for decades—I have trunks full of jeans. My all-time favorite pair came from a denim picker out of Durango, Colorado I've been working with my entire career. They're broken in to feel like you've worn them every day of your life, like a second skin. They directly inspired our 'Form' style, an ode to classic vintage rigid jeans."

Her Laid Back Look: "On the weekends, nothing should feel too overdone. A slinky knit sweater against bare skin is the most comfortable thing. A large part of my down time consists of lounging around my apartment; or hanging out on a bench people-watching in Tompkins Square Park. I've lived in the East Village for the past 13 years and love the authenticity of the neighborhood."

Her Shoe Game: " I'm almost always in a flat loafer—classic Guccis are my current favorites—or a pair of Adidas sneakers, either the classic shell toe or Gazelle style."

Her (Non)Typical Work Day: "When I'm getting dressed for work, my look needs to be versatile enough to handle my unpredictable schedule. There are usually several fittings each week. And then I might be on appointments, meeting with our fabric mills, or going for drinks with editors. If I'm taking a rare day off from jeans, I'll double down on knits."
