Having received international acclaim for a varied portfolio of film roles, numerous award wins and an Academy Award nomination when she was just 24, there’s little Florence Pugh hasn’t achieved.

However, the actress has added another accolade to her impressive list of successes with her latest blockbuster, Marvel’s Thunderbolts, landing Pugh a Guinness World Record.

The film, which sees Pugh reprise her role as the sharp-tongued, sarcastic assassin Yelena Belova, is the action-packed follow-up from 2021 outing Black Widow, and sees Yelena joined by a wider group of antiheroes in completing a dangerous mission.

And as to be expected from a Marvel film, Pugh is engaged in a series of impressive and eye-watering stunts; including one which has never been attempted before.

While Pugh is coy in explaining what exactly the stunt entails in a bid to avoid spoilers (it does involve jumping from a great height), the efforts have landed Pugh a place in history.

The Harper’s Bazaar May cover star told us: “My double, the female co-ordinator and I are all now Guinness World Record holders!”

Of course, Pugh has never shied away from fully committing to roles. In her breakout role in the 2019 horror film Midsommar, Pugh said she "traumatised" herself in a bid to get the iconic shot of her sobbing in a flower crown by picturing her family in coffins.

She has also shaved off her hair in order to portray certain roles, most recently sporting a buzzcut for We Live In Time, a romantic drama in which her character gets diagnosed with ovarian cancer. “I give so much of my body to what I do,” Pugh told us.

However, the star continues that she is looking to add a better work/life balance to her list of achievements.

“I’ve worked back-to-back since I started, and I’ve missed so much,” she says, listing family events, birthdays, barbecues with friends that she was unable to attend. “I’ve now come to terms with things that I don’t like about myself and want to change. I don’t want to have things just happen to me anymore.”
