Inside the 2024 Women of the Year portrait studio
With Sophie Turner, Nicola Coughlan, Raye and more
At the 2024 Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year Awards, guests were invited to step into our dreamlike portrait studio – an ode to Mother Nature. Our line-up of winners, presenters and friends – from Sophie Turner to Victoria Beckham and Raye – were photographed by Rachel Louise Brown against two sets: one bathed in moonlight and the other aglow with the morning sun.
Held at Claridge’s, in partnership with The Platinum Card® by American Express, the awards celebrated inspiring women and extraordinary achievements from across the worlds of film, TV, music, literature, art and culture.
"For our fourth Woman of the Year portrait studio I hoped to celebrate the innate feminine strength and creativity of our inspiring winners," explains Brown. "I collaborated with Penny Mills, an incredible stage-design visionary, to bring two ethereal, otherworldly sets to life."
A personal highlight for Brown was capturing moments of genuine connection between the guests. "Tenderness became a theme as the night progressed," she says. "Aidan Turner helping Jilly Cooper navigate our butterflies; Harriet Walter encouraging Brian Cox to enjoy his time in space; Raye’s captivating free spirit mixed with Maya’s infectious laughter – their friendship lit up the set. Frankie Hayward and Lauren Cuthbertson ended up directing each other’s portraits. What never fails to surprise me about Bazaar’s Women of the Year is how much joy, respect and love is in the room. It’s an honour to capture the spirit of the night during those magical seconds on set."
