The most beautiful demi-fine jewellery to invest in now

We round up the pieces guaranteed to elevate your wardrobe

By

Many of us are finding our relationship with fashion changing. A few years ago, when we were all forced to embrace a much slower pace of life, there was something of a reset in the way we approached our wardrobes, and there has been a reckoning regarding sustainability and how we choose to invest in what we wear. With a less throwaway attitude, many of us are investing in products that we will be able to hold on to forever – and this is especially true when it comes to jewellery.

As a result, demi-fine jewellery has never been more popular, sitting as it does in that middle ground between value and quality. Far superior to costume jewellery but without the premium price tag associated with fine pieces, demi-fine jewellery is made affordable by using lower carat or plated precious metals (think gold, silver or platinum) in place of their solid counterparts. These are then combined with sparkling gemstones such as diamonds or sapphires for a beautiful finish. The result is eye-catching accessories that give off a hint of luxury without breaking the bank.

Thanks to the sudden boom in interest in the mid-range market, there have never been more – or better – designers producing wonderful demi-fine ranges. Below, we round up some of our favourite rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings available now, all from top-quality brands that the Bazaar fashion editors have come to rely on.

Fashion editor favourite Missoma positions itself as the first demi-fine jewellery brand, and is now as well known for its recent collaborations with designer Harris Reed as it is for its layerable, stackable pieces. The new vintage-inspired Molten Pearl collection features slightly more unusual, abstract pieces, like this charming pearl pendant.

Over the past few years, Alighieri has become a firm favourite with fashion insiders, and you will likely have seen many of the designs on your Instagram feed. Designer Rosh Mahtani creates the most beautiful gold-plated pieces, including this striking Edge of the Abyss ring, which is handmade and designed to look like a modern heirloom.

Carat London

A tennis bracelet is perhaps one of the most classic pieces of jewellery a woman can own, and demi-fine jewellery label Carat London has plenty of amazing options to choose from. We love this particular style, which has been created with the label’s exquisitely cut and polished Princess stones and set in sterling silver with a white gold finish.

Italian label Rosantica may have become famous for its beautiful sparkly handbags but the brand actually started out life as a jewellery specialist, and we love to turn to it when we’re after something with a touch of sparkle.

This floral gold bracelet just went right to the top of our wish list.
