Jennifer Lawrence had a comical wardrobe malfunction this week when her belt popped off as she gave a speech during a festive Dior and Saks Fifth Avenue event in New York, but the moment actually drew our attention to a great winter styling trick that we should all be adopting, cinching in our coats with a chic belt.
The actress – who was there to celebrate the opening of the Carousel of Dreams window collaboration – wore a chic black coat by Dior for the occasion, which she threw over a crisp white shirt and accessorised with a headband. She then added a simple black belt to her look, which pulled the cosy ensemble together, giving it a polished finish.
Adding a belt to a winter coat or blazer is a great way of cinching in your waist and giving you a more flattering silhouette, but it also adds a bit of drama to your ensemble, can dress you up a little and add a point of difference to your look.
