It was a welcome delight to see Kate Hudson return to our screens in Netflix's sports comedy Running Point, and we can't deny the fact that we haven't been able to stop thinking about her enviable wardrobe in the series.
The show centres around Hudson's character Isla Gordon, who finds herself in charge of her family's basketball team. Cue scene after scene of perfectly curated corporate outfits, with Isla slipping into a seemingly endless array of feminine suits and power pieces, and even an incredible silk Galvan gown courtesy of Law Roach.
As enjoyable as the outfits were on our screen, their viability for our real-life workwear wardrobes also piqued our interested. From Gabriela Hearst and Sandro suiting to an unexpected Jean Paul Gaultier piece, Gordon's ensembles are a masterclass in sleek corporate dressing.
If Running Point's fashion also caught your eye, or you're just looking for some office-wear inspiration of your own, read on to find out where you can shop the exact pieces from the show.
The soft pink suit
Isla sets the precedent early, eschewing sportswear and showing up to a basketball game in a feminine tailored powder pink suit by Sasuphi.
The suit was styled with an ivory organza shirt which peeked out from underneath, with the pointed collar lending a slightly Seventies aesthetic to the look. "It’s just the epitome of a powerful suit, but feminine and rich and luxurious. It's what I wanted to achieve for the show," the show's costume designer Salvador Pérez told Netflix's sister site Tudum.
The one-shoulder waistcoat
Isla's one-shoulder Acne waistcoat takes a deconstructed approach to the classic style. This work ensemble is especially sleek, worn with a pair of leather trousers and white stiletto court heels, taking artistic license with the phrase 'business on the top, party on the bottom.'
The engagement gown
Celebrity stylist Law Roach makes a cameo in episode five, imparting his sartorial wisdom to help pick Isla's engagement party dress, a backless halter-neck ivory design by Galvan constructed from satin-crepe which lends the dress its fluid movement
No engagement party on the horizon? This dress also makes for an ideal addition to your summer holiday wardrobe.
The leather dress
Clearly a fan of Scandi brands, we see Isla wearing Ganni's black faux leather mini shirt dress for a day in the office.
While this might not be appropriate for all workplaces, this sleek dress is a versatile piece to have in your wardrobe; style with a pair of knee-high boots or heels for evening plans, or match with Ganni's ballerina flats for an daytime look.
The double-breasted blazer
A classic staple of the corporate wardrobe, blazers feature heavily in Isla's day-to-day looks, and this Gabriela Hearst piece is an absolute classic.
Featuring tortoiseshell buttons, this tailored wool blazer can serve as a counterpart to your favourite pair of black trousers, or elevate a pair of jeans and loafers for a more casual look.
The gold earrings
Isla displays a covetable array of jewellery throughout the series, and this pair of large link earrings by Jenny Bird is a sleek staple, with the character wearing them with multiple outfits in episode one.
The Jean Paul Gaultier bra
One of the more unexpected pieces worn in the show is an instantly recognisable design from Jean Paul Gaultier — the Tattoo iconic satin bra top — which Isla styles with a black fine-knit cardigan and sleek belted pencil skirt
A contemporary rendition of the iconic cone-bra design worn by Madonna, it's not likely to be an office-appropriate piece for most people, but it's a great fashion moment in the show nonetheless.
The butter-yellow suit
An adopter of the butter-yellow trend, Isla shows up in episode three in a pastel-hued Sandro blazer and matching trousers, a look that stays right on theme with her rotation of colourful tailoring.
Fans of Hudson will likely notice the suit's similarities to an iconic piece from a previous project; “The suit is obviously a nod, but that butter-yellow suit almost didn’t get on because it’s the [same colour as the] yellow dress from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” Pérez explained to Tudum.
