"Being such a minimal piece, the fit is key when it comes to choosing the right one and we suggest paying extra attention to the fabric composition and details," Heather Gramston, head of womenswear at Browns tells us. "Personally, I look for a 100 per cent cotton or silk white shirt, with a sharp collar and longer cuffs."
Another tip from Gramston? Opt for dry cleaning over washing to keep it crisp and pristine, and do lots of trial and error to find the right fit for you. This season, there are plenty of oversized options, which look great partly tucked into jeans or trousers, while we love a classic fitted style for the office, or something with a frill or beautiful detail if you're after something a little more feminine.
