The best hair, makeup, and nail looks from backstage at spring 2019 bridal fashion week.
Silver Streak
At Reem Acra, models wore a cat-eye created with a dramatic silver-foil eyeliner. If metallics are part of your wedding vibe, try a metallic nail as well. The sheer golden polish (by Essie) looks even cooler once you know that the look is all about mixed metals.
Bow Crazy
Backstage at Lela Rose, Giovanni Vaccaro, Glamsquad Creative Director, and his team prepped hair with Kerastase V.I.P. Powder in Volume and French Girl Sea Spray, then curled the hair to create textured waves. After scooping hair into a low ponytail, stylists roughed up the waves even more with a blast of texture spray. Then came the fun part: the stylists took five feet of white velvet ribbon and tied a bow, wrapping it around the neck and tying securely with an uneven knot in the hair. They finished the style with OUAI Soft Hair Spray.
Undone Red
The classic matte-red lipstick at Galia Lahav got a cool-bride update by keeping the hair perfectly messy and undone.
Metallic Stripe
Don't get suckered in to wearing a simple nude nail polish for your big day if it's not something you'd wear any other day of your life. At the very least, add a metallic stripe across the nude nail polish for a light-catching and simple upgrade.
The New Half-Up
The half-up bridal hairstyle got a cool makeover this bridal season. Instead of pulling hair into a voluminous half-up section, just the face-framing layers were pulled back and laid flat with a few bobby pins.
Super Blunt
The easiest way to add edge back to a voluminous tulle gown? Pair an ultra-sleek blunt bob with long chandelier earrings—like the model at vera Wangfor the ultimate lesson in beauty geometry.
Blair Inspired
A berry-red lipstick and silk white headband (in lieu of a veil, of course) make a bouncy blowout look like the most innovative and original bridal hairstyle.
Petal Power
Dreamy curls got even dreamier on the spring 2019 runways, where tiny flowers (it's a trend!) were seen fastened into the curls.
Flower Girl
A classic half-up wavy hairstyle could use a little more than a sparkly pin and veil to look fresh and new. At Elie Saab, white flowers were glued along the length of the hair for one of the most romantic and fun hair looks of the season.
Hair Bouquet
A floral headpiece this extravagant is only for the boldest brides, but take from it this: instead of wearing a single flower or glittery pin in your hair, consider adding more.
Punk Bride
At Naeem Khan, brides went punk. Sooty dark eyeliner was kept glam with the addition of a creamy matte lipstick, but this look was all about the hair. Teased into a faux-hawk, the hair look was anything but safe.
Tendril Moment
Blame Meghan Markle: the humble tendrils are back and bigger than ever. Two long face-framing pieces, curled away from the face, is all you need to make a basic chignon look oh-so-2019.
Pushed Back
At Danielle Frankel, peach eyes and lips and pushed-back beachy waves looked effortlessly chic—much like the brand itself.
The Hair Flip
The voluminous '80s-inspired hair flip seen on the ready-to-wear runways also made it to bridal at the Oleg Cassini show. With a glittery hoop, it's for the bride who wants to look casual but not beachy or undone.
Slick Curls
Make your curls pop by securing a metallic headband back along the middle of your head. By keeping the section by your hairline sleek and shiny, it makes the curls behind the headband look extra-luxe.
Soft and Delicate
We love this look for the matchy-matchy pink shadow and lipstick and the slick and low chignon fastened with a length of thin white ribbon.
The Bridal Lob
If the spring 2019 bridal shows have taught us anything about hair, it's that you should cut it all off. The bridal lob is bigger than ever, and it makes any gown look a little more modern and cool.
Silver Shadow
At Berta, bold beauty was the name of the game. A Balmain-inspired extra-long and braided ponytail wasn't even the most eye-catching piece of the look. We can't get over how fun a chrome eyeshadow, laid on thick from lashline to just above the crease, looks when paired with a nude lip and statement earrings.
Black Band
A thin black headband adds a sporty element to an otherwise sweet and feminine gown.
