Planning concepts for your wedding day tablescape—and for every event surrounding your wedding—requires ample amounts of editing, and a large dose of creativity. Modern brides are consistently aiming to do something that feels distinct from weddings they've seen in the past, without breaking the bank: they're no longer settling for the basics. Instead, forward-thinking brides are looking for ways to maximize their floral budgets and create looks that are cool and easy, yet formal in feel.
Our advice: choose your table's focal point first—be it the linens (try a print or a rich velvet for a twist on tradition), the glassware (opt for various shades of colored glassware for a fun, colorful vibe), or in our case, the florals and the plates. For floral centerpieces, incorporate obscurity, like glass cloches and fruit, for impact rather than building out too many grandiose bloom moments. And, when all else fails, use your registry to incorporate pieces that add interest when planning a more intimate affair.

To solve some of the décor woes of the bride seeking to achieve an effortlessly chic table without an overwrought (read: cheesy) feel, we partnered with wedding design mavericks Putnam & Putnam. With the idea that no two brides are alike in how they look to set their tables, we challenged the married floral design duo to create four different looks with the same color palette, motifs and concept, encouraging them to experiment with how to maximize one style, four ways.
The result? Four perfect tablescapes ranging from sweet and minimal to over-the-top dramatic—that are all equal parts romantic and sophisticated.
