When Glossier launched its first fragrance, You, back in 2017, it changed the beauty landscape. Dubbed a skin-scent enhancer, it was sort of an antiperfume perfume—a fragrance that adapted to an individual’s unique chemistry thanks to Ambrox, a synthetic scent molecule that smells warm and ambery. It was subtle, it was cool, and it was an instant hit. Last year, the brand followed up with two new iterations as part of the Impressions of You franchise: the woody Doux and creamy, fruity gourmand Rêve. But what would a true, well-rounded fragrance collection be without a floral perfume? Enter Glossier You Fleur, out now.

Here’s what you need to know about You Fleur. Like the original You, it is anything but traditional. You won’t find classic perfume notes like jasmine, rose, or violet in this. Instead, there’s a distinct mineral-salt accord at the top, followed by sweet Osmanthus and ylang-ylang, fruity apricot skin, soft cashmeran, and (of course) Ambrox. Was I confused when I first sprayed it? A little. Have I worn it nearly every day since? Yes!

“As its name suggests, Fleur is not a figurative interpretation of a specific, recognizable flower. The composition leans into the ethereal and abstract. Ylang-ylang brings a creamy richness, while Osmanthus introduces delicate, fruity nuances. Together, they create an impression of soft, sunlit petals rather than a literal floral note,” perfumer Dora Baghriche tells Bazaar. “This was intentional. Fleur isn’t about a singular bloom but rather an interplay of textures and sensations that remains fluid and ambiguous, capturing the essence of a floral without adhering to convention.”

Glossier You Fleur

You Fleur

I have been a fan of mineral and salt notes in fragrances for years. For some reason, they remind me of my childhood. Is it the Play-Doh of it all? I really love how present and forward the accord is in Fleur. Baghriche says it’s “a truly unexpected element in a floral fragrance.” She continues: “It serves as a reminder of the tangible presence of the earth. This makes Glossier Fleur instinctively familiar and easy to connect with on a deeply personal level.”

Osmanthus and ylang-ylang offer a sweet, almost fruity balance to the mineral-salt accord, while cashmere gives the enveloping feeling of a soft hug, and Ambrox lends the warmth of a skin scent. I love to wear Fleur alone as the perfect springtime scent, but I find it pairs particularly well with both the original You and the woodiness of Doux. If you love sweet scents, you’ll like layering Fleur with the buttercream notes in Rêve. “Fleur was not designed to be layered,” Baghriche says, “but since the Glossier You fragrance line is anchored in Ambrox and musks, Fleur is naturally compatible with its sister scents.”
