If you’re on the hunt for a new perfume to wear for spring and summer, you could aimlessly wander the aisles of a department store looking for the perfect scent. Or, better yet, you could just listen to perfume experts and what fragrance trends they have their eyes on right now. “A scent that captures the essence of the season is always a great choice. Something refreshing, renewing, transportive, or a throwback,” says Linda G. Levy, president of the Fragrance Foundation. Ahead, we consulted Levy, Robertet perfumer Arielle Le Beau, Givaudan perfumer Alexis Grugeon, and IFF perfumer Andrew Everett on the five perfume trends to know for spring and summer 2025—plus our favorite new scents to shop for each one.
Beyond Berry Perfumes
Cherry perfumes have been trending for a few years (and berry scents will always be popular come spring), but the latest batch of hit perfumes pushes the possibilities of fruity fragrances a little further. “I’m still seeing a lot of cherry perfumes, and we’re moving into more stone fruits, like peach and plum,” says Le Beau. “Pear is also having a moment! These fruits paired with some fresh floralcy make a great scent for spring.”
My favorite new scent for spring, Glossier’s unusual floral called You Fleur blends ylang-ylang and Ambrox with apricot skin for a creamy, dreamy, and fresh fragrance.
Le Beau says she loves this new launch from Ferragamo for “its pear and white floral notes.”
“Right now, I really like Clean Strawberry Fields for its subtle fruity strawberry top note that’s wrapped nicely in a floral heart,” says Le Beau.
Nobody does fruity fragrances quite like Tom Ford, and Bitter Peach (with its sensual blend of peche de vigne, blood orange, and patchouli) is no exception.
Good Girl (and its various counterparts) is now the top-selling perfume in the world. It’s easy to see why with Very Good Girl Elixir, a bold, fruity-floral blend of black cherry, red rose, and vanilla.
This new iteration of Cosmic blends pear with amber and lavender essence for a scent that’s both fresh and sweet.
Classics With a Twist
Classic perfumes, like Chanel Chance and Mugler Angel, are getting updated this season, as are classic perfume notes like rose, jasmine, and patchouli. “One of my favorite trends is the unusual combinations that we are seeing, like a coffee with cherry or narcisse with leather, which are exciting because they get us out of the traditional olfactive families and let perfumers really play with ingredients,” says Everett.
Phlur Rose Whip Eau de Parfum
Rose and leather, two classic perfume notes, have each met their match in Rose Whip. This fragrance tempers the powderiness of the former and masculinity of the latter with fruity black currant, honeyed osmanthus, amber, cashmere wood, and musk.
Chanel Chance Eau Splendide Eau de Parfum Spray
Chance, one of the world’s best-selling perfume franchises, has a fruity new addition this season. Eau Splendide is centered on a red-raspberry accord and balanced by geranium from flowers grown by the brand in Grasse, France. A distilled sandalwood note adds a casual, grounding base to the soft yet enveloping perfume.
Louis Vuitton Elves
The latest launch from Louis Vuitton is a rose, lily-of-the-valley, and patchouli scent that is entirely modern, thanks to fruity and trendy notes of black currant, peach, ginger, cinnamon, coconut milk, and ambroxan.
Mugler Angel Stellar Eau de Parfum
Angel was the original gourmand scent, and 2025’s iteration includes a top note of bergamot essence, a pistachio accord in the heart, and base notes of bourbon vanilla and a woods accord.
Exotic and Tropical Fruit Perfumes
Cherry, peach, pear, and berry perfumes are trending, but Grugeon says tropical and exotic fruits like pineapple and guava are rising in popularity too. Everett agrees. “I love that some really nostalgic fruits like banana are being elevated into fine fragrance,” he says.
Guava juice, banana, and vanilla notes make for the perfect sweet spring and summer scent.
This hair and body mist contains notes of guava, lemon zest, and peach and is 98 percent naturally derived.
Marc Jacobs Fragrances Daisy Wild Eau So Intense Eau de Parfum
This new iteration of Daisy blends banana blossom with jasmine and amber.
The top note of Ralph Lauren's new Romance Elixir is juicy lychee, which is balanced by a raspberry and violet accord.
Citrus Perfumes
“Coming from Florida, I love the spring and sunshine! It takes me right to the citrus groves, into nature, and onto the beach,” Everett says. “Right now, we are really excited that citrus notes are making a visionary, modern way into the market.” The popularity of citrus perfumes is often seasonal, as their freshness is perfect for warmer weather, but there are more options than ever this season, running the gamut from classic bergamot to lime and clementine. “The berry trend from the holidays continues, but there has been a seasonal shift to more citrusy scents, with lemons, grapefruit, and oranges enhancing the ingredients,” Levy says.
This long-lasting perfume blends fruity cassis with clementine and vanilla.
This summertime scent features an Italian-spritz accord, focused on citrus notes, blended with the scent of freshly peeled oranges and vetiver.
Lime, coconut water, and vanilla aren't just the start of a great beachside cocktail, they're also the key notes in this new scent from Jo Malone.
Billie Eilish's latest scent opens with bergamot peel, fresh ginger, and cardamom.
Body Sprays and Fun Formats
“One of the biggest trends is body sprays and new accessories—like purse sprays, such as the one that is my new treasure, Coco Mademoiselle EDP Intense purse spray on a pearl and gold chain bracelet,” says Levy. Le Beau agrees: “Hair and body mists are becoming really popular, even hair perfumes now with Kitsch’s new launch.”
Levy calls Chanel’s new purse spray her “treasure,” because the travel-size bottle doubles as a bracelet. It’s both perfume and jewelry.
Solid perfumes are back in popularity, and we love this lipstick-shaped version of Dior’s Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet—the perfect springtime scent.
Sol de Janeiro dominates the body-spray space. The brand’s latest launch is Dança Mística, which includes notes of fig, warm vanilla, and sandalwood.
This hair perfume doesn’t just leave behind notes of salt, amber, and driftwood, it also features patented odor-eliminating technology to refresh hair between washes.
