From eye-catching prints and patterns to bold colors, summer nail trends are always fun to show off. And according to Jin Soon Choi, famed nail artist and founder of JINsoon nail spas, we’ll see one overarching trend for summer 2024.

“Jelly nail trends are really taking off for the summer of 2024,” says Choi. She speaks to the versatility of jellies, adding that they can be bright, neutral, or pastel. “The recent Met Gala showcased numerous stunning jelly nail looks, and I had the privilege of creating three out of four of them.” She notes that the Michael Kors and Brandon Maxwell Spring/Summer 2024 fashion shows also featured jelly-like looks.

Ahead, take a closer look at what we predict will be the biggest nail trends of summer 2024, and shop the products that will help you get the looks yourself.

Juicy Fruit

If Choi has to pick one jelly shade in particular, it’s Crush, a sheer red-orange she used for the Brandon Maxwell Spring/Summer ’24 runway. “It’s ideal for both nails and toes, infusing them with a lively vibrancy that perfectly embodies the essence of the season,” she says. “Moreover, incorporating dreamy pastel jelly colors can create a soft, cool aesthetic, providing a delightful departure from conventional sheer nail shades.”

Lemon and Lime

Citrus may technically be seasonal to winter, but these zesty colors feel right at home in the heat of summer. Go super-literal with lemon-slice nail art by Bellacures or even tiny margarita motifs.

Or, go more abstract with a pale yellow base obscured with modern, three-dimensional nail jewels.

Tie-Dye

According to celeb nail artist Queenie Nguyen, the retro pattern is trending again for the festival season. We love this pink-centric version with flashes of blue, as it feels fresh even after a year of Barbiecore.

You can also incorporate a shimmery, glazed-doughnut effect into a tie-dye mani, for two trends in one.

Sheer and Shiny

Do a quick scan around any trendy restaurant or bar (heck, even the subway) and you’ll likely notice a lot of people with neat, barely polished nails. It looks super put-together, but requires no more than a sheer pink polish and top coat—or, for extra credit, you can add a teeny dot like this look here.

Sheer and Shiny

For another take on the look, try sheer, shimmery cat-eye nails like what Quinta Brunson wore for this year’s NAACP Awards.

Chrome still seems to be having a moment—but it’s going technicolor. We love this look Kylie Jenner wore, which features shades of blue, purple, pink, and gold, all tied together with shine.
