If you want an example of the perfect debut Emmys red-carpet outfit, look no further than Quinta Brunson.
The creator and star of the beloved ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary stepped out on the red carpet tonight in an exquisite russet gown, custom made by Dolce & Gabbana. The dress featured a flashy corseted strapless bodice made out of metallic sequins, while the skirt was composed of an iridescent bronze fabric featuring a thigh-high leg slit.
Brunson only upped the ante with a pair of matching sheer opera gloves and brown strappy heels. Her bedazzled jewelry also fit the color scheme.
As a first-time nominee, Brunson is up for three Emmys tonight in the categories of Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She made Emmys history by becoming the first Black woman to be nominated three times in the comedy category.
The star reflected on the seemingly universal positive reception to the show in a recent interview with BAZAAR.com.
"I am so in awe. I'm so amazed, humbled—like, overwhelmed," she said. "When we were all making it, from the show's inception to it being written to it being produced and being shot, everybody involved felt like we had a good show here. All of us felt that way. So for it to go out to the world and the world to feel the same way, that's weirdly a rare experience—that creator-audience relationship—and especially for it to have happened so fast."
