Sydney Sweeney is no stranger to invasive paparazzi, as she revealed in an uncomfortable story about photographers who presented a depraved offer to her family. The Anyone But You actor recalled that, during an incident that happened at her Florida home, paparazzi offered to leave her and her family alone in exchange for Sweeney stepping out in her bikini so they could snap some photos.
“They said, ‘If you tell her to just come outside in a bikini, I’ll take pictures and then I’ll leave you alone,’” Sweeney told Glamour in a recent interview. She went on to explain the great lengths that hungry photographers have taken, as well as how the breach of privacy has put her and her family in danger.
“I have pictures of these guys in kayaks hiding in bushes in the ocean,” the actor added. “They got there at 8 a.m. and wouldn’t leave until 4 p.m. I should be able to be in my home and feel comfortable and safe. My actual safety is at risk. Everyone knows where I am. Now, there’s boats that go by and I literally hear them say, ‘This is Sydney Sweeney’s house.’ It becomes a star tour in my front yard.”
And by no means does the Euphoria star invite photographers to her home, as rumors have suggested. Sweeney took a moment to address claims that she calls paparazzi herself, explaining that she wouldn’t want to subject her family and friends, whom she often hosts, to photographers. “Why would I call the paparazzi to take pictures of me at my own house when my baby cousins and family are there and I’m in my backyard? Why would I ever want that?" she asked.
Sweeney’s meteoric rise to fame has been littered by vintage car purchases and partnerships with Armani Beauty, Miu Miu, and more. As she proves, however, becoming one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood comes with its own price.
