In this supernatural thriller, Sweeney delivers a bewitching performance as Juliet, a young classical pianist who becomes enthralled by the notebook of a student at her boarding school who committed suicide. Sweeney joined the star-studded cast of Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 drama, which also includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Austin Butler, Margaret Qualley, and Dakota Fanning. The film chronicles Hollywood on the cusp of change in the late ’60s, an era punctuated by the horrific murder of Sharon Tate (Robbie) at the hands of the Manson family. Immaculate (2024)
Sweeney returned to horror movies with aplomb in Immaculate, a film she also produced. In it, she plays Sister Cecilia, a novice nun who moves to a convent in the Italian countryside that watches over elderly nuns. She quickly learns that not everything is as it seems when she suddenly becomes pregnant, despite being a virgin.
