When we last left the sci-fi drama Westworld, the hosts had started a revolt. Dolores, the park's oldest host, gained consciousness and killed park founder Robert Ford, then other guests at the board gala. Next month, we'll finally get to see what happens next—and it already looks like a lot has changed.
On Friday, HBO released the first official images from the show's second season, which starts airing April 22. And though we don't get much of a clue into the other parks at Westworld like Shogun World, we do get hints that a good deal is different now. And that echoes what showrunner Jonathan Nolan said about the Season 2 premiere: “We are definitely not picking up right where we left off.”
In the new images, Maeve is depicted in modern-day clothes and seen alongside Lee Sizemore, who runs Westworld's narrative department.
We also see Bernard, Stubbs, and Charlotte trying to get the situation under control, alongside newcomers Betty Gabriel (Get Out), who plays Maling, and Gustaf Skarsgård (Vikings), who plays Karl Strand.
Another newcomer is Tyrant's Fares Fares, who is playing tech expert Antoine Costa:
Dolores is sporting a bandolier, which perhaps hints that more violence is sure to come.
We're going to see more of the host Angela, as Talulah Riley was promoted to a series regular for the show's second season:
And Rodrigo Santoro is also returning as Hector:
And because some things just always stay the same, Ed Harris's Man in Black is back for more destruction.
