More Wednesday is on the horizon—and season two will include a new member of the Addams Family, as well as a major guest star.
Netflix confirmed in 2023 that a second season of the hit Tim Burton–helmed series is on the way. The streaming platform shared the news with a highlight reel of clips from season one, captioned “More torture is coming. Lucky you.” Here’s everything we know so far.
The first trailer teases “dark secrets.”
In the first teaser trailer for Wednesday season two, Jenna Ortega steps back into Wednesday’s shoes as she gets ready to return to Nevermore Academy for another semester. Keeping the show's dark humor in mind, Wednesday passes through an airport TSA security line with a number of eye-raising weapons. Whoops!
In addition to the trailer, Netflix also released an array of first-look stills from season two, including new shots of the Addams family, Wednesday with her classmates, and Tyler—who was revealed to be the murderous Hyde in season one.
When does season two hit Netflix?
Season two will be released in two drops. Part one, which contains the first four episodes, will premiere on Netflix on August 6, 2025. Part two, which contains the last four episodes, will release on September 3, 2025.
What will season two of Wednesday be about?
The official logline for season two reads:
Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.
Co-showrunner Miles Millar previously told TVLine in November 2022, “We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles. Catherine is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important.”
Who will be cast in season two?
Ortega will reprise her role as the titular Wednesday Addams, alongside Hunter Doohan as Tyler, Emma Myers as Wednesday’s roommate Enid, Joy Sunday as Bianca, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley. The season will also see new cast members, with Steve Buscemi joining as Nevermore Academy’s new principal and Joanna Lumley as Grandmama. Other newcomers include Thandiwe Newton, Billie Piper, Christopher Lloyd, and Frances O’Connor.
Lady Gaga has joined the cast for season two.
Lady Gaga has long been tied to the smash Netflix series Wednesday, after her Born This Way track “Bloody Mary” went viral on TikTok, when fans stitched a scene of Wednesday Addams dancing along to a remix of the song. Now, it looks like that viral moment has evolved into a full-blown guest role.
In a report from Entertainment Weekly, a source confirmed that Gaga will make an appearance on the second season of the teen drama. Gaga later teased her role in a March 2025 interview with the outlet. “I don’t want to give away anything about being part of the show,” she said. “I want to keep it extra secret—but, I love Jenna, and I really had an amazing time!”
Back in January 2023, Ortega was asked what she thought about the pop superstar potentially joining the show, to which she said, “I’m sure Netflix would love that.” She even offered her take on how Gaga could fit into the series, saying, “I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way, so if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other.”
Season two will introduce a new member of the Addams Family.
In a video released as part of Netflix’s June 2023 Tudum fan event, Ortega and costars Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, and Joy Sunday responded to fans’ theories about the forthcoming season two. They were able to confirm in the Tudum video that the second season will introduce an as-yet unseen member of the Addams Family.
Doohan was quick to clarify that the stars “don’t know who” will be joining them. Ortega put in a vote for Cousin Itt, while Doohan and Sunday agreed that Grandmama could be a good choice.
Other theories mentioned were that the shapeshifting Principal Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie) is still alive (and, specifically, disguising herself as Lurch), that another character may have picked up season-one villain Crackstone’s ring and inherited his powers, and that Wednesday may now be in control of the Hyde’s powers.
