The fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy may only be six episodes, but so much is packed into a short space of time. As well as wrapping up the show’s storylines, the final season takes the opportunity to pay tribute to fan favorite characters. While a couple of brief appearances take place early in the season, the majority of cameos happen at the very end of episode six, which is the finale. From major antagonists to adorable anti-heroes and illustrators responsible for bringing the series to life, here are all of the cameos in The Umbrella Academy season four.

The Handler

Kate Walsh portrayed The Handler in the first two seasons of The Umbrella Academy. The character became a major antagonist during the show’s second season when she hatched a plan to take over the Temps Commission, an organization that controls the space-time continuum. It was also revealed she’s Lila’s adoptive mother, but manipulated her since she was a child.

In the series finale, we briefly see The Handler pause for a break while jogging in the park, blissfully unaware of her high-powered, evil alter ego.

Grace

Grace (Jordan Claire Robbins) was an important character throughout the first three seasons of The Umbrella Academy. In the first season, Grace was revealed to be a robot nanny and adoptive mother who raised the Hargreeves siblings. During the second season, we meet human Grace when the Umbrellas travel back to the ‘60s. It’s revealed she’s a talented scientist who sent chimpanzees, including baby Pogo, to space, and briefly dated Sir Reginald. In the show’s third season, we find out the Sparrows have their own Grace.

In the final episode of season four, Grace appears pushing a stroller in the park scene after the Umbrellas have restored the original timeline. Discussing her return for the season four finale, Robbins told Tudum, “It was cool because there were a lot of people I hadn’t worked with, because our storylines didn’t cross, that I got to be on set with that day. Like the Swedes!”

Hazel (Cameron Britton) was a hugely important character in season one, in which he played a time-travelling assassin. With his partner Cha-Cha (Mary J. Blige), Hazel’s mission was to prevent Five from stopping the forthcoming apocalypse. Instead, he fell in love with a waitress named Agnes, and left to start a new life with her. He reprised his role in season two, but was swiftly killed by the Swedes.

In the series finale, Hazel is shown walking in the park alongside Agnes. “It was so exciting to be a part of the beginning and the end of the story,” Britton told Tudum.

In the show’s first season, Agnes (Sheila McCarthy) worked at Griddy's Donuts, where she regularly served coffee to hitman Hazel. Despite being a somewhat unlikely couple, the pair fell in love, and spent twenty years together, until Agnes died from cancer.

During the season four finale, Agnes is shown to be alive and well in the restored timeline, where she is walking in the park alongside Hazel.

Herb (Ken Hall) worked at the Temps Commission, where he held a number of different roles, including temporary Chair. As well as becoming The Handler’s supervisor at one point, Herb collaborated with multiple members of the Umbrella Academy throughout their missions.

Herb’s return for the finale sees him sitting in the park with his colleague Dot (Patrice Goodman). Both are being drawn by artist Gabriel Bá, who illustrated the original comic books on which the show is based.

In the season four finale, Dot is seen sitting in the park with Herb while Bá draws their portraits.

The Swedes—Otto, Axel, and Oscar—were antagonists throughout season two. The trio were not only triplets, but they were also dangerous assassins who replaced Hazel and Cha-Cha. The Temps Commission hired them to kill members of the Umbrella Academy, with an urgent focus on Five. While Oscar and Otto died during the season, Axel survived and got into a van belonging to Destiny’s Children, the cult run by Klaus.

In the series finale, the Swedes can be seen frolicking in the park, and are very much alive.

Dolores

Dolores might not be human, but she was an incredibly important character throughout The Umbrella Academy. Alone for decades during the apocalypse, Five’s only companion was Dolores, a store mannequin. Despite the inanimate nature of Dolores, Five took good care of his companion, and their connection turned romantic.

The mannequin makes several brief appearances during season four, and her head can be seen in the park in the show’s final episode.

Artist Gabriel Bá is responsible for illustrating the graphic novels and comic books on which The Umbrella Academy is based.

In the season four finale, Bá appears in the park, where he can be seen drawing Herb and Dot. Bá’s twin brother, Fábio Moon, also appears in the scene. “I hope people scream a little if they catch me there because it was fun for me,” Bá told Tudum of his appearance. “Our first idea was to make a cameo in season three, but it couldn’t happen because of COVID. I was really happy to be part of that last episode.”

Pogo

Pogo was an extremely intelligent chimpanzee who worked as an assistant to Sir Reginald Hargreeves. He became an important figure to the Umbrella Academy, but only appeared occasionally in later seasons. Ken Hall, who portrayed Herb on the series, also performed the motion capture for Pogo’s body.

Pogo makes a brief appearance in season four, episode four. In a flashback to the day Ben died, Pogo is shown piloting the aircraft that carries members of the Umbrella Academy.
