Carey Mulligan stars in Emerald Fennel’s directorial debut as Cassie Thomas, a 30-year-old med school dropout now working in a café. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)

This brilliant and unsettling psychological puzzle from director Christopher Nolan keeps you guessing until the very end. The film follows Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce), a man suffering from short-term memory loss, as he searches for the person responsible for his wife’s murder. To track down the killer and remember what he uncovers each day, Leonard takes Polaroid photographs and gets tattoos of important clues on his body. Told in a non-linear structure that switches between the past and present day, Memento unfolds in a disorienting manner that’s similar to how Shelby must navigate his life.

Tilda Swinton stars in this dark psychological drama as Eva, a former travel writer who now works at a travel agency near the prison in which her son Kevin (Ezra Miller) is incarcerated. The film follows a robot named Roz (Lupita Nyong’o), who becomes stranded on a deserted island after a shipwreck. To survive, Roz befriends the local animals, including an orphaned goose (Kit Connor), with whom she becomes closely attached. Based on James Baldwin’s unfinished manuscript Remember This House, this documentary directed by Raoul Peck explores the history of racism in America and highlights its ongoing struggles in achieving equality. Narrated by Samuel L.
