As Paris Fashion Week comes to a close, there’s one name on everybody’s lips—and it isn’t one of the many creative directors fresh off their debut offerings. Rather, it’s Tampa-based rapper Doechii, who’s spent the last week stepping out in mismatching prints at Acne Studios, barefoot at Chloé, and back to the ‘80s at Tom Ford.

Her arsenal of looks just keeps coming, and not only are they a refreshing break from archival pulls, but they call back to some of the most iconic looks of all time. Case in point: Ahead of the Louis Vuitton show on Monday, Doechii tapped into the house’s signature checkered pattern, wearing a pair of boyish, high-rise shorts alongside a matching tweed jacket.

Points were made by her sharp look, namely through her accessories. A bold checkered tie quite literally cinched her ensemble together, while a slouchy tweed hat called back to the likes of early ‘00s Lauryn Hill and logomania master Dapper Dan. There’s no denying that when it comes to fashion referencing, Doechii and her stylist Sam Woolf know just how to hit the perfect balance. All of the rapper’s looks have been uniquely hers—and that’s what makes them so good.

Her subtle take on logomania seemed much appreciated by Louis Vuitton creative director Pharrell Williams, who appeared in one of Doechii’s Instagram photos wearing bootcut jeans à la Kendrick Lamar. Here’s hoping we can look forward to more collaborative projects from the two, whether that be musical or sartorial. In the meantime, the producer made Doechii shine with shimmering details, which were peppered into her outfit via diamond cufflinks and a sparkling brooch.

Elsewhere, the “Anxiety” rapper carried bags on bags (on bags). Rather than opt into the bag charm trend, she layered purses, using a pastel green Speedy 30 bag as her base. (Later, she posted a TikTok where she belted out that the silhouette was her “favorite bag.”) She sandwiched the LV-branded purse between a smaller brown leather bag—complete with miniature, hand-painted portraits—and attached an itty-bitty version of the checkered Speedy to the handles of her mint-green purse.

Burgundy loafers and a striped tooth cap cemented her sartorial swagger, as did the dramatic walk she did while walking past paparazzi. Grace Jones who?
