I Tried Meghan Sussex's Complete Beauty Routine

The Duchess knows all about channeling a radiant glow, and now, so do I

By

In my recent experience, few things beat watching Meghan Sussex plate an immaculate sea bass dish on her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, while eating microwaved popcorn at home. But aside from captivating audiences with swoon-worthy meals and aesthetically pleasing mimosas, there's no denying that the Duchess looks undeniably radiant on the show. And after sharing her favorite beauty products on her ShopMy account, it's clear that good camera lighting isn't the only reason her skin looks so glowy and even.

Shop Meghan Sussex′s Beauty Favorites

I was curious to test the royal's beauty favorites for myself, especially considering how accessible and budget-friendly they are—a number of her top picks retail for under $30. Sussex's go-to La Roche Posay Toleriane Face Cleanser, the cult-favorite Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm, and RMS Beauty's beginner-friendly Luminizer are just a handful of the items on her list that I swapped into my regimen. And after testing them for a week, I can confidently say I’ve never looked glowier. Keep scrolling to read my honest thoughts on Sussex's beauty staples.

A Gentle Cleanser

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Face Cleanser

Toleriane Face Cleanser

As someone with oily skin, I typically don’t gravitate towards cream cleansers. This La Roche-Posay formula, however, immediately impressed me with its ability to wipe away the day’s grime and keep my skin balanced. It has a milky consistency that doesn’t lather, and though it requires a bit of rubbing in, my skin instantly looked and felt refreshed after just one wash with this.

Another highlight is that it's dermatologist-tested and works to soothe and protect the skin barrier. Even my roommate, who has extremely reactive skin, put it to the test and said it's the best cleanser she's ever tried.

A Serum Stick

Tatcha The Serum Stick

The Serum Stick

The skin around the eyes and lips is thinner than that on the rest of the face, meaning it tends to be more prone to dryness. This concentrated serum stick is great for deeply hydrating those areas, using nourishing squalane and Japanese lemon balm. Due to its compact size, it's also convenient to pop in my purse for on-the-go touch-ups.

A Beloved Collagen Cream

Medicube Collagen Jelly Cream

Collagen Jelly Cream

Sussex uses this hydrolyzed collagen-infused cream, which has also been my skin’s saving grace. I apply it as the final step in my nightly skincare routine, and awake with a bouncy, plump complexion. True to its name, it has a gel-like consistency. Though it feels a bit sticky at first, it absorbs within minutes, so that by the time I rest my head on the pillow, it’s already seeped deep into my skin.

I just turned 30 last week, so I couldn't have tested this formula at a better time—it's already helping minimize the fine lines forming on my forehead. Should you need any more convincing, Bazaar beauty market and commerce editor Katie Intner is also a huge fan of this cream—and you can read her full review here, too.

A Glowy Serum

Saie Glowy Super Gel

Glowy Super Gel

To achieve an effortless glow, the royal relies on Saie's Glowy Super Gel serum. Though it has a thick, opaque texture, it practically melts into my skin without feeling sticky. Plus, I appreciate that it doesn't have a sparkly sheen to it. It provides that dewy, radiant finish you usually only get from sleeping eight hours and drinking nine cups of water.

A Barely-There Foundation

No Makeup Makeup Foundation

Foundation

I am still amazed by how little of this cream-balm foundation it took to cover my entire face. Just a few swipes of the buildable formula easily concealed all my blemishes, without feeling heavy or looking cakey in the slightest. Even hours after applying a full face of this foundation, my skin still had that airbrushed look. I opted for the shade Natural, though it also comes in nine other finishes to help you find a seamless match.

A Top Highlighter

RMS Beauty Luminizer

Luminizer

Sussex has reportedly used RMS Beauty's Luminizer since 2018, and now, I can easily see why she loves it. I opted for the shimmery white shade, Living, and was instantly impressed by how it gave my cheeks a natural-looking radiance. The formula catches the light in the most flattering way, so that you never sparkle like a fairy. Not to mention, it applies like a dream.

A Lengthening Mascara

Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara

Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara

After testing this royal-approved mascara, I can confirm it lives up to its name—it nearly doubles the length of my short lashes. The wand glides smoothly through them without depositing a single clump. At the end of the day, I'm never left with undereye smudges, and the formula still looks the same as when I applied it hours earlier. And to top it all off, it's still easy to wipe away with makeup remover—sans tugging or any lost lashes in the process.

A Viral Lip Balm

Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm

Lip Butter Balm

The Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm checks all my boxes: It hydrates, looks glossy, doesn’t feel sticky, and smells absolutely delicious. I've tried plenty of formulas that end up drying out quickly on the skin. This one deeply hydrates and is exceptionally long-wearing, so I don't have to worry about re-applying. As an added bonus, it doesn’t catch my hair like a Venus flytrap every time I turn my head.

An Eyeshadow Palette

Jane Iredale PurePressed Eye Shadow Triple

PurePressed Eye Shadow Triple

Jane Iredale's trios of shimmery-nude shades are perfect for creating an everyday smoky eye. I also love that the gorgeous shadows stick to my eyelids all day without smudging or fading. Plus, the compact palette is super easy to travel with.

Final Verdict

line break

It comes as little surprise that the Duchess has impeccable taste in beauty products. I’m grateful for the introduction to brands and formulas I've never tried before, some of which have earned permanent spots in my rotation. My only other tip? Just remember to layer in some sunscreen as your base.
