Lisa has officially made her grand arrival at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.
Stepping onto the red carpet at UBS Arena in New York, the Blackpink member wowed in a nude-toned hooded gown, offering a whole new take on the classic naked dress.
Her look—a custom Mugler creation—featured a corseted bodice with a pointed sculptural neckline, a draped waistline, and a seamless hood that connected to the piece’s long sleeves. For extra oomph, Lisa accessorized with a gold Bulgari Serpenti necklace.
Later in the evening, for her explosive performance, Lisa changed into a cherry red leather look custom-made by Chrome Hearts, composed of a fringe bustier top and a cutout miniskirt with black lace-up details at the sides. She finished the look with matching red leather opera gloves.
She pulled off one last outfit change to accept the Moon Person for Best K-Pop. The Louis Vuitton look consisted of a flowy black dress made out of a sheer mesh fabric, featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline and long sleeves. She layered the piece over a bedazzled two-piece set and strappy black heels.
This year, the singer and rapper has racked up four nominations for her hit solo single “Rockstar,” in the categories of Best K-Pop, Best Editing, Best Choreography, and Best Art Direction.
While fans know and love Lisa for her glamorous red-carpet looks, her off-duty style tends to be a bit more casual. She opened up about her personal fashion philosophy in a 2021 interview with Harper’s Bazaar. “I usually wear boxy tops and denim pants and carry a mini bag. It’s comfortable, but it still looks stylish,” she said of her day-to-day uniform. “I’m really into hats these days too, especially sporty ones like baseball caps, bucket hats, and beanies.”
She also expressed her love for vintage pieces, adding, “I love vintage denim pants with details that are hard to see out there today: unique buttons, varied lengths, and rare washes. I get most of my good finds from shops in Hongdae [neighborhood in Seoul] or online, but when I find something that speaks to me, I get all excited like I’ve found hidden treasure.”
Of course, fans aren’t the only ones noticing Lisa’s rise amongst the fashion set. Major luxury houses like Bulgari, Celine, and Louis Vuitton have also tapped the star for brand ambassadorships, and Lisa even made her runway debut for Celine’s Summer 2021 show.
