MAGA celebrated in the U.S. Capitol after Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony on Monday. Once the speeches were made and the Republican leader was declared the United States’s 47th president, he and wife Melania Trump shared their ceremonial first dance.
The couple took the floor at the Liberty Inaugural Ball, surrounded by their family and supporters. Donald wore a classic tuxedo, and Melania coordinated with him in a black-and-white gown made by French-American designer Hervé Pierre.
The strapless dress had a low one-arm strap and a zigzagging design that looked like a black ribbon was elegantly draped around a white gown. The flowing skirt had a high leg slit, which allowed Melania to show off her pointy white heels.
But the truly surprising and welcome touch was in the dress’s accompanying accessory: a black ribbon choker embellished with a diamond flower brooch that was dotted with a pink pearl.
“It was such an honor to create the dress for the First Lady Melania Trump tonight. I can’t thank her enough… it was a wonderful project, a great collaboration… as always !!!!” Pierre wrote on Instagram alongside his original sketch for the dress.
The designer also made the first lady’s ball gown for her husband’s inauguration in 2017. It was an off-the-shoulder white gown with a high leg slit and a thin red silk belt.
Earlier in the day on Monday, Melania repped another American designer, New York–based Adam Lippes, for her inauguration-ceremony look. It was a navy wool coat styled with a matching pencil skirt and an ivory silk crepe blouse. To accessorize, she added a flat-brimmed hat by Eric Javitz, also based in New York.
