Doja Cat’s debut Oscars appearance is one for the books.
The musician made a glamorous arrival tonight at the 97th annual Academy Awards. Stepping onto the red carpet at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, Doja embraced her wild side in a sparkly cheetah-print gown by Balmain. The unique dress featured a strapless plunging neckline, and it came with a matching scarf, which she wore layered atop a Messika necklace that bore a massive 34-carat yellow cushion-cut diamond.
Doja is among tonight’s slate of performers, joining fellow artists Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Queen Latifah, Blackpink’s Lisa, and Raye. While we don’t yet know what exactly the rapper’s debut Oscars performance will entail, it’s possible that she may be joined by Lisa and Raye, since Doja and Raye were recently featured in Lisa’s latest single, “Born Again.”
“There are special moments that are planned and it’s about music, it’s about celebration, it’s about celebrating some really amazing pieces of film and even a Governor’s Award with Quincy Jones,” Oscars executive producer and showrunner Raj Kapoor previously said of this year’s anticipated musical performances, per Billboard. “The music performances are just really special and curated this year. And I think they speak to this year in film, and they also speak to icons and legends.”
He teased, “We absolutely love the element of surprise. What I can say is [that even with] every presenter and every performer that’s already been announced, there’s still more to come. There are people that are not going to be announced. You will have to keep a sharp eye out for a few different cameos that happen throughout the evening.”
