Tonight, Hollywood’s most illustrious stars are gathering to celebrate the year’s best performances, from Timothée Chalamet as a soulful, elusive Bob Dylan to Ariana Grande as a good (or so they say) witch to Demi Moore as a former aerobics instructor on the hunt for youth and beauty. But at Bazaar, we’re also here to celebrate those who were best dressed on the red carpet—the stars whose fashion choices made us go “Wow!” or feel inspired to dress a little differently in our own day-to-day lives. We’ve seen Chalamet do Dylan cosplay in the coolest of ways, while stars like Grande and Selena Gomez have gone ultra-glamorous with classic silhouettes and old-world, elegant jewelry.
This year’s Oscars red carpet has certainly included plenty of nods to Hollywood’s golden era, but there’s been plenty of contemporary experimentation too. This formula made for one of the more thrilling red carpets in recent history and no doubt will have reverberations on the runways and in stores in the season to come. Until then, cheers to all the nominees, including, of course, the best dressed of the night. Below is our list of the standout stars on tonight’s red carpet.

The Wicked star looked positively dreamy in a look straight off the Spring 2025 couture runways. Daniel Roseberry’s Schiaparelli couture gown, with its wavy peplum skirt and corseted bodice, gave Grande the allure of a fantastical Glinda while at the same time rooting the pop star/actress firmly in a contemporary style that is both bold and sophisticated. She’s a movie star now, and in this dress everyone can tell.

In a few days at Paris Fashion Week, designer Sarah Burton will make her debut as creative director of Givenchy. Tonight, the world got a sneak preview of her vision for the storied house via custom designs for several stars on the red carpet, including A Complete Unknown actress Elle Fanning. She was stunning in Burton’s white lace gown with a sweetheart neckline and black ribbon bow at the waist.
Torres is nominated in the Best Actress category tonight for her role in I’m Still Here, but whether or not she wins for her outstanding performance, she’ll walk away as one of the evening’s top-tier style stars. Torres looked beautiful in a black embroidered Chanel couture gown with floral appliqués and a sheer skirt beneath a plume of fringe at the waist.

Moore knows she looks good, and it’s been a treat to see her flaunt it during awards season. She is a Hollywood icon, and her Oscar nomination for The Substance tonight has been a long time coming. Moore’s silvery, bedazzled, body-hugging gown was a perfect choice for the big night—a look that emphasizes her strength and her badassery, on and off the screen.

Gomez has had a fantastic run on the red carpet over the past few months. She’s leaned in heavily to the Old Hollywood glamour vibes that we’ve been seeing everywhere, and tonight she really upped the ante on the trend in a gorgeous beaded, off-the-shoulder column gown from Ralph Lauren. In a sea of European fashion houses, it was also a pleasant surprise to see an Oscar-nominated actress choose to wear an American designer for the occasion.

Lily-Rose Depp in Chanel

She may play a possessed demon lover in Nosferatu, but there’s nothing scary about her Oscars look. Lily-Rose Depp looked fabulous in a sheer, lacy, sequined Chanel gown that was equal parts sexy and chic.

Stone rarely misses when it comes to red-carpet dressing, and this evening’s Oscars were no exception. The actress chose a sharp, paillette-adorned dress that looked beautifully simple to wear but made a statement nonetheless.

A queen in royal-blue Balenciaga! Wicked star Michelle Yeoh was the picture of modern elegance in this strapless draped gown with a dramatic train.
