A new trailer has been released for the latest TV series from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Netflix has given the world its first look at Polo, a sports documentary from Archewell Productions.
The series promises to give “a behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced and glamorous world of the sport”.
In a caption of the video, which was released on X (formerly known as Twitter), viewers were invited to “follow elite global players on and off the field as they compete in the high-stakes U.S. Open Polo Championship”. Those taking part and interviewed in the documentary include top polo players Adolfo Cambiaso, Poroto Cambiaso, Louis Devaleix, Timmy Dutta, Keko Magrini and Nacho Figueras.
Figueras, who is a close friend of Prince Harry's, discusses just how intense the sport can be in the high-octane trailer.
“Imagine going on a horse at 35mph with someone coming at you at full speed,” he says during the two-minute clip. “Polo is not just a sport, polo is a lifestyle. We eat, we breathe, we sleep polo.”
The trailer for the documentary series revealed that Polo will also take a look at the atheletes’ personal lives.
We see talented young player, Timmy Dutta, juggling parties and dates with life on horseback. “I think it's healthy to have somewhat of a personal life outside of being an athlete,” said Dutta.
Elsewhere, pro Louis Devaleix, who speaks of travelling to Argentina twice a week, reveals the strain the sport can have on relationships. “Polo can have a toll on your family, and that's no secret,” adds his wife, who was heavily pregnant at the time of filming.
Prince Harry himself is an avid polo player; since moving over to the States, the 40-year-old has been part of Los Padres team, which is led by Figueras.
Figueras himself has been admiring of Harry’s ability on horseback.
“He’s a very good rider,” he told the Associated Press earlier this year. “He’s a very good athlete, he has great eye-hand coordination. He’s very competitive. He’s a very good polo player.”
Polo is the latest show to come from Prince Harry and Meghan, as part of the pair’s multi-million pound deal.
They previously released Harry & Meghan, Live to Lead and Heart of Invictus.
Polo debuts on Netflix on 10 December.
