Aimee Song is ready to redefine holiday party dressing.
In front of her seven million Instagram followers, the designer and influencer gets festive in Rabanne chainmail and Miu Miu sequins. Offline, her approach to party dress codes is a little different. “While Instagram highlights some of my more glamorous holiday looks, my everyday holiday wardrobe is rooted around cozy knits and warm layers and always comfy shoes,” Song tells Bazaar. “After I’m fully dressed up, I can’t wait to go home to wear my comfy pieces.”
As invitations for this year’s holiday parties roll in, Song is turning toward her self-described formula for comfortably chic holiday outfits: a combination of contrasting textures, personalized pieces, and a lot of high/low mixing and matching. Some of the pieces she’ll turn to come from her first capsule collection with Madewell—a lineup of 11 items ranging from silver foil painted wide-leg jeans to a cuddly sweater-and-skirt set in a dreamy shade of lavender. While Song’s Madewell collection does include a quintessentially holiday sequin dress, the remaining assortment of denim and knitwear reflects the sophisticated everyday sensibility that has made her a must-follow online. The pieces also reflect her year-end shopping philosophy. “When shopping for myself during the holidays, I prioritize pieces that seamlessly complement my existing wardrobe,” she explains. “Whatever I buy, I try to make sure I’m going to be able to style them in different ways, and be able to rewear them.”
Ahead, Song shares the Lucky 13 items completing her cozy holiday season, from the party pieces in her Madewell capsule collection to her winter essentials for winding down after the festivities.
