The 18 Best Long-Lasting Perfumes You Won't Need to Reapply

These scents have true staying power

By

The primary purpose of perfume is to leave you smelling divine. No matter your scent profile preferences, whether fruity, floral, or gourmand, one of the most important aspects of choosing a perfume is how long it lasts. The best long-lasting perfumes wear like a second skin, linger both on your body and in clothes for days, and are layered with notes and ingredients that give them staying power.

A perfume's complexity and pairing of notes contribute to its overall longevity, and not all fragrance categories have the ability to linger. Clayton Ilolahia, evaluation and communications manager at Fragrances of the World, tells Bazaar that fresh scents with dominant fruit or green notes tend to have less staying power. He advises sticking with fragrances in the amber or woody families instead of those that contain notes like oud, leather, and amber. The concentration level of ingredients also affects how long they stay vibrant on the skin. Extraits and absolu de parfums are generally richer formulas; even if the notes are lighter, the fragrance will hold up on the skin.

Whether you're looking for some of the best perfumes of all time, or trying something new, round your rotation with this selection of expert and editor picks for the best long-lasting perfumes from Chanel, Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Glossier, and more.
