Duchess Meghan’s desire to share the magic of Montecito persists, with the Duchess of Sussex continuing the roll out of her As Ever brand with the launch of a new podcast.
Following the Archetypes series on Spotify, the 43-year-old’s new venture, Confessions of a Female Founder, sees Meghan interview high-profile businesswomen on the highs and lows of creating one’s own brand.
The first guest who joins the duchess for episode one is Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd; her app’s USP being that it's an entirely female-focused dating and networking program.
In the intimate and revealing chat, Wolfe Herd discusses her time being in the public eye after leaving the dating app Tinder, which she also co-created, following a sexual harassment lawsuit – and how this experience really galvanized her into putting women at the heart of Bumble.
The CEO, who is thought to be worth more than $510 million after Bumble was listed on the stock exchange, also expressed sympathy with Meghan over the huge public scrutiny she faced after giving birth.
In response, Meghan explained how becoming a mother has changed her approach to business and work. The duchess welcomed Prince Archie in 2019, and Princess Lilibet in 2021.
She added that it was Lilibet who was particularly involved in Meghan’s ‘As Ever’ work, with her three-year-old often wandering into the duchess’ home office after a nap.
“She knows where to find me, even if my door is closed to the office,” Meghan says. “She will be sitting there on my lap during one of these meetings with a grid of all the executives.”
“But also I wouldn’t have it any other way. I don’t want to miss those moments. I don’t want to miss pick-up if I don’t have to. I don’t want to miss drop-off. I think what I do love the most about having young kids in this chapter while I’m building is the perspective that it brings,” she adds.
Confessions of a Female Founder will have seven further episodes, with the rest of the guests yet to be announced.
The podcast release comes after the first drop of products from Meghan’s As Ever brand sold out within an hour. A second series of her Netflix show, With Love Meghan, has also been confirmed.
