The British royal family is celebrating an important occasion today: the 80th anniversary of VE Day, or Victory in Europe Day.
The holiday marks the end of World War II in Europe in 1945, and to honor those who served during the conflict, the royals gathered to watch a special military procession at Buckingham Palace.
Around 1300 members of the armed forces, including the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the British Army and the Royal Air Force, along with Commonwealth nations, Ukraine, and Nato allies took part in the military procession.
King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Princess Catherine were amongst the senior royals who attended the event. They were joined by Sophie, Duchess of Edinburg, Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, and many others. The Wales kids—Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7—also made an appearance with their parents.
Kate looked incredible as always in a monochrome magenta ensemble. The vibrant look consisted of a coatdress with sharp shoulders, a double-breasted neckline, and a flowy pleated tennis skirt. The skirt was separated from the suit-like bodice with a sleek built-in belt.
Kate wore the dress with a matching circular fascinator, tan pointed-toe pumps, and diamond-and-ruby jewelry: dangly earrings and a matching necklace. Her most meaningful accessory, however, was the gold brooch she pinned to her dress: a symbol of the Fleet Air Arm, which is the naval aviation component of the United Kingdom’s Royal Navy.
Charles and William wore their military uniforms, while the Wales kids coordinated in elegant navy looks.
