Prince Louis looks more and more grown up with each passing year.
On Wednesday, April 23, the youngest member of the Wales family celebrated his seventh birthday, and his parents—Princess Kate and Prince William—marked the occasion in their usual fashion, by sharing a brand-new portrait of the birthday boy to Instagram.
Although many of the family’s portraits have been captured by Kate herself, this new photograph was taken by Josh Shinner, and it sees Prince Louis perched on a log, seemingly posing from within the family’s backyard.
For the shot, the young royal wore a forest green sweater layered over a blue-and-white checkered button-up and paired with a set of blue jeans. The caption read: “Wishing Prince Louis a very Happy 7th Birthday! 🎂.”
In the photo, Louis looks taller than ever and flashes an adorable smile which shows he’s missing a few front teeth—a sign he’s probably gotten a few visits from the tooth fairy in the past few weeks.
But that wasn’t all royal fans were treated to. In addition to the snap, Kensington Palace released a rare video of the young royal, who is seen playing around in the woods and jumping over fallen trees. At one point, viewers even get to hear Louis’s little voice, as he says, “I can jump down from here.”
Last year, for his sixth birthday portrait, the playful royal looked super candid. Captured by mom Kate, the shot saw Louis lying on a towel in the grass and cheesing for the camera while wearing a blue-and-yellow checked top and cobalt-blue shorts.
His birthday celebrations arrive only a few days after the Easter holiday, where this year, the Wales family skipped the annual church service and decided to have their own private celebration at their country residence, Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
