Duchess Meghan is happier than she has ever been, and no amount of media criticism and public scrutiny can take that away from her.

In her first ever podcast interview, on The Jamie Kern Lima Show Podcast, Meghan gets raw and real about what it is like to be seen as the Duchess of Sussex from people who do not know the real her—the mother, the wife, the homemaker, the entrepreneur, the woman who created a massive life for herself after being born with very little.

“We spend so much of our lives trying to prove something—to prove that you’re enough. To prove that you’re pretty enough, to prove that you’re smart enough. To prove that you’re a good wife or a good friend—I am just so done with the ‘prove it’ game,” Meghan said. “And if you can’t see it, I don’t need to prove to you why that’s your loss.”

After she married Prince Harry, and during her years as a senior member of the British royal family, Meghan endured waves of criticism—about her race, about her motives, and so much more. Then, when she and Harry decided to step down from their roles and move to Montecito, California, to raise their children, she was blamed for taking Harry from his family and from the role he was born into.

But now, five years later, Meghan and Harry’s home with kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet is filled with bliss, and they’re doing exactly what they want to do—Meghan running her lifestyle brand, podcast, and Netflix show, and Harry running his Invictus Games and other charitable pursuits.

“I know that I’m a great friend, and I know the kind of mom I am, I know the kind of human being I am. I know how I show up, and I love being able to be that person with the people that I love,” Meghan said in the interview. “So, maybe part of worthiness comes when you stop having to feel like you’re in the ‘prove it’ game.”
